"Fortress of tHe Sea" 


HMS Edinburgh "D97"  was the last  Type 42 or Sheffield Class (Batch 3) Destroyer of the Royal Navy  Launched 14th April 1983, and commissioned on the 17th of December 1985.  She returned to Portsmouth Harbour for her final time on the 31st May 2013, Flying a decommissioning pennant.  To Mark the Occasion she was Given a Flypast by a Royal Naval Lynx ZD566 and Royal Naval Historic Flight Hawker Sea Fury VX281 and followed into Harbour by Her replacement Type 45 Destroyer,  HMS Defender "D36"
